Kyoga, I don't think you really know what your talking about here.

Although that does make me question, If you have a square bedroom, and you put a desk like, in the middle of the room, more towards the wall, and had everything else in your bedroom in front of the desk, and had your studio monitors facing towards the wall, would that work well for a makeshift studio of sorts? I can help you with your studio, PM me as I don't want to derail this thread any further.

I'm satisfied with what I have right now. Though a good pair of headphones would be lovely.

I wish I had frigging real monitors instead of my crappy (Ok, they're actually really good for what they are, but that's besides the point) Altec Lansing. I have no subwoofer. None. Seriously, if I want to mix bass, I have to put my freaking headphones on. Anyone have any suggestions of cheap monitors for bass music?

Maybe like, a keyboard midi controller too, but I don't really think I need that.

"Cheap monitors" is an oxymoron. Getting a subwoofer shouldn't really be of too much concern for you, even if you are going to be doing really bass-y music. Most monitors can play frequencies as low as ~55 Hz, but the higher end $600+ monitors can reach as low as ~40 Hz, so unless you're making music that relies heavily on frequencies lower than 55 Hz (which probably wouldn't make a good song), you shouldn't really have to worry about getting a subwoofer for mixing. However, since those lower frequencies will still be there, you can still use your headphones. It's recommended that you mix with both headphones and monitors so that you can get different points of views on how your mix sounds. And if you want to get a pair of headphones that are made for alternate purposes other than pleasure listening, like for mixing as well, this is where it gets really expensive, because a good pair of mixing headphones can cost as low as $120 or so. However, you shouldn't have to worry about getting a set of headphones made with music production in mind unless your current pair have a really uneven frequency response.

besides, I don't see how mixing with headphones every now and then is too much of a problem

It's not a problem, I just want to mix on different soundsystems, and if I can hear the sub then it kind of rakes away a lot from the track I should be hearing. As for my headphones, I use Bose OE2s, and I love them.

Useful little thing! I haven't done any acoustic recording in a while, but I've used it a lot with meatspace collabs.

Right now I'm looking at the Tannoy Reveal 501As. They seem pretty good for the price.

Oh yeah, and if I ever learn how to dj and want to continue doing so, I'd want the Stanton SCS.4DJ. Seriously, that whole "built in computer system" thing is freaking awesome.

Does anyone own advanced (possibly genre-specific) theory books that they would recommend buying?
I need to have something to ask for this holiday season.

I see no problem with reviving this thread seeing as we are in the last stretch before the holidays.

EDIT: (I forgot to post anything else)
That being said, I am definitely hoping to get either the Akai LPD8 or the Akai MPD26 (or hey, maybe both?).
I also need to find a cheap, midi mixer.
And I'm still in need of a power amp for the Alesis Monitor One monitors I found for $8. The recommend one is $200, so I'm trying to find a cheaper one that will function nearly as well.

But yea
Dear Santa:
Ableton Push
Yamaha HS80 pair
wall mounts for them
Slim Phatty <3

Also I just realised If I get the push...would I have a need for my launch pad?
