That's interesting to see everyone going to set tempos. I am no good at this electronic thing, but I pick tempos that feel right for the song. Strange.

Go-to tempos for "fast" stuff, I'd like to say 200 is a good benchmark.

I also really like metal music, so working with that I hit tempos of 240+ easy.

ALL Bpms should end in a zero, or a five. The other numbers are such subtle changes that it's stupid and unnecessary.

Just sayin, it makes things that much more complicated for DJs and remixers to have to find some ridiculous number.

Did I just... I don't even... WHAT?!

Come on. 128 is so damn popular around the world that what you're saying is completely not true. Most of the tracks I listen to on the radio are actually in 128 BPM. I myself am also favouring this tempo, but I guess I'm ridiculous.

Mayyyybeee 128 is ok, since it's so darned popular. But what if I want to make a dubstep remix of a glitch hop song, but the tempo isn't provided and it ends up being 104.375 or some ridiculous number? It's completely unnecessary and annoying.

If you're remixing a song into dubstep the tempo should probably be around 140, not 100.

Most DAWs have options to detect the tempo of a song and change it. So you can easily change 104.375 into 100.

Why do you even need the original if you're doing a remix?

psh. Primes are idiotic. I am vehemently opposed to bpms in prime numbers, they usually sound ugly.

I meant if the original song is around 100 bpm. And a number that horrendously specific usually ism't detected perfectly. AND if I'm doing a remix, I might want to change the speed of a few stems.

Make the stems fit to your tempo in the project (Most DAWs should have that feature somewhere)
And replace all percussion with your own. I usally do that. As for since I always try to get my remixes to be around 128 bpm.

Welcome to the club. :D

Actually, I change my mind. My favorite tempos are 90, 138 (because screw you, 140 is too fast), and 165.

I seem to be liking 120 a lot more lately. It's the perfect middle ground between hip-hop and house, and makes for some cool moombahw/e too :D
