Not to mention Luna's speaking pattern is different than NMM. Or that Luna never knew what fun was despite her age (no wonder she turned into NMM). Or that no pony ever heard of NMM in the first two episodes and yet they celebrate her appearance every year for Nightmare Night.

Oh wait... that's right. It's a kid's show :p.

Hi there, Zakton here. I've been lurking these forums and chat for a few days and thought I should introduce myself.

-I'm 23 and from Minnesota
-I work as a dental assistant (lolwat?)
-Been a brony since this summer, largely in part because of the mind-blowing music that has come out of this fandom
-I don't have a ton of musical experience... I took some piano lessons as a kid (oh... and I'm an expert at guitar hero *covers face in shame*)
-I'm open to all forms of music, with a leaning towards trance, dance, techno, anything electronic
-I have a MIDI keyboard and I got myself FL studio; I'm still very confused by it but I'm eager to learn and this website has already given me a lot of help.
-I also have a penchant for voiceovers/impressions/accents, but I'm not a very good singer :(

I shan't ramble on further, glad to be here.

Welcome to the forum!

FL user here as well so feel free to ask anything. If you took piano lessons you should have a basic knowledge of music theory, which helps loads, if not i suggest you read up on it a little bit.

To get started try entering the weekly Toastbeard contest!

Lets hear those impressions!

Okay...I've had an account here for a while, but I've done literally nothing with it. But since I'm planning on doing toastbeard, I figure I might as well start using this forum.

So I go by the name of Dark Symphony in this fandom; here's a short intro.

- I'm a 21 year old Mechanical Engineering student from England.
- I did classical piano and violin lessons for most of my school life and hated them so I never practiced.
- I now play synthesizer, electric violin and recently started playing electric double bass.
- The vast majority of my music is played on a keytar.
- I mostly play classical. Old habits die hard.
- I love all genres of music; classical, dubstep, folk, drum and bass, power metal, prog rock...literally everything.

So, that's me :D I look forward to sharing music-y stuff with everypony!

In all seriousness, I really enjoyed your Tugging and the Heartstrings piece and I'm so jealous of your electric double bass. Hope to hear more of your stuff!

Hello everypony!

My name is Thorinair and I make trance pony tracks! Usually if you see "Thorinair" on the internet in producer-related sense or not, there is a 90% of chance it is me.

Anyway, I am 19 years old, and I just recently started producing! Some of you might have already heard my tracks, I don't know...

I guess that's all about me, I am going to post one of my tracks in the Showcase/Completed/ forum, and I just want to ask if it is okay that I post all 3 of my tracks there, I don't want it to look like spam! :P

I have Tumblr here: http://thorinair-music.tumblr.com/

Hiya! I'm Cloudgazer Or DJ Solum in some places and situations. I got a start in music playing accordion and fiddle, and recently moved on to producing. I use Reason for my producing, I find it nice and the arrangement screen actually makes sense to me.

I make any genre that takes my fancy at the time, I feel limiting myself to one genre will limit the techniques I can really learn.

Im from the UK and am studying astrophysics.

Cloudgazer, do you still play those instruments? If so, awesome!

We hope you both enjoy your time here!

Hihi, I'm VScratch aka Lasty(Batsy) aka Esix aka NaKMachine aka Lowcash aka Violet Lynn Scraton oh my god so many names

-I'm 20, and have been playing music for the past 9 years. Composition is a much more recent thing for me (I was into the demoscene back in '04-'05ish and then it kinda became more work than a hobby and stopped being fun.)
-I am from a lonely, lonely Aleutian island but currently live in California.
-I currently play keyboard for a jazz/prog rock band.
-I can play a ton of instruments, though the only ones I'm actually decent at are the cello, flute, baritone/euphonium, various percussion junk (timpanis yesssss), and piano. Piano is my first instrument and the one I mainly play. For some reason I never, ever bothered to saxophone even though it's pretty much one of my favourite instruments to listen to.
-I'm going to college for a degree in nursing. Currently I intern as a nurse assisstant at a local hospital.
-I also write, and as of a week or so ago have started to learn how to draw because I decided I didn't already have enough hobbies and have this weird "HEY I LIKE THAT THING THIS PERSON -DID I BET I CAN DO IT TOO" mentality which is why I got into music in the first place (that and so I could get out of class for an hour)
-SOMETIMES I LIKE ALL CAPS FULLTILT
-For composition, I either sequence things on my Clavinova or in Sibelius and then use FL to add VSTs and such. I'm trying to learn Reason and Ableton right now, but SO HARD
-RPGs, platformers, and metroidvanias are the best games.

Hey, I'm Serisium. I've been moderately active on the IRC for the last week or two, plus I put in an entry for the last toastbeard. I've had this account for a while, but I still haven't posted yet.

[*] I'm 17 years old and go to high school in Texas.
[*] I've played the baritone/euphonium in my school's band for 6 years.
[*] I'm using FL Studio.
[*] I'm attempting to teach myself piano.
[*] I don't really have a music style. That's one thing I really need to work on, methinks.
[*] I'm also trying to get into recording vocals, but I can't sing. >.<
[*] I enjoy mathematics and computer science.

Guten Tag! My name is Christoffer, a 19 year old university student from Sweden with a love for ponies. Reading courses to be eligable to begin an engineer program for the time being!

For the moment I'm mostly fiddling around with the FL studio demo, trying to bend it to my will, but I can play guitar, clarinet, saxophone, bass, ukulele and some harmonica aswell. I'm currently playing bass guitar in a hard rock band but can't say that grinding A, C and G and stuff like that is really stimulating. Favourite genres being jazz, rock, metal, electronic music (can't keep track of all these subgenres!), post-rock and acoustic stuff. :>

Guess that's about it!

Oh, and Twilight Sparkle & Fluttershy are best ponies!!

Hey, this is Lightning Mustang, but I also sometimes go by SoulEmber. I've got an Associate's degree and certification in radiologic technology, and am working towards a degree in healthcare informatics. I'm a major appreciator of music, but have never really made attempts at making it (aside from playing cello up until 8th grade). After listening to all the awesome music in the MLP: FiM fandom, I have finally decided to stop procrastinating and actually look into and fool around with DAWs. Alas, I won't be getting too much time to do so this semester. So hopefully by the time winter rolls around, I'll have some free time to actually sit down and mess with a few DAWs. I'd love all the advice I can get from anyone who would be willing to give it. I tend to be a visual learner, so either excessive screen shots or video tutorials would be amazing. Eventually, when I stop being a total n00b, I hope to try and delve into some of the music genres that don't get touched often or at all.

I live in Montana, USA, where we totally ride grizzly bears everywhere because of how epic we are [/sarcasm]. Interests include reading, music, video games, movies, grimdark, creepypasta, MLP: FiM (for the plot~) and RPG's. I listen to a bit of every kind of music, but my favorites include industrial, aggrotech, liquid DnB, EBM, hardstyle, hardcore, darkwave, darkstep, DnB, horrorpunk, ska, hard rock, indie, folk, and pretty much all metal subgenres.

As for favorite ponies, my choice of the mane 6 would have to be Rainbow Dash. When it comes to background ponies, it's a toss up between Frederic Horseshoepin (Chopin is my favorite composer) and Morton "Salt" Shaker.
Never disrespect your greatest enemy!

I think it's funny how people say I look so different now that I'm wearing contact lenses more often and painting clothes on my naked body.

What!? I did not see this topic earlier?

*I am a trained concert percussionist and can play every percussion instrument effectively except the snare drum and toms.
*I do a bit of piano playing here and there but I wouldn't say I'm fantastic at it, just good.
*I sing as well, Bass 2. Can't get much more manly...
*I played piano in Jazz Band, probably the most fun I have ever had.
*My musical taste lies mainly in Classic Rock, particularly 60's and 70's, with Orchestral and traces of Techno. However, half of the Techno I like is pony techno.
*Favorite Band = The Beatles
*Favorite Song = Baba O'Riley - The Who
*I could name off all the other amazing bands I like but that would cover half twice this entire post probably.

I am on Skype if you want to talk to me directly. Look me up under ajtheengineer.

Hello everypony! I'm so happy to have found this place finally, because I'd never heard of it until a few hours ago. (Kind of found this place by accident too; apparently one of my songs is posted here somewhere xD) I have a LOT of projects that I'm working on (Lots of pony, some non) so I'm joyful to have found such an amazing looking community of MusicFriends!
I'm so nervous though...but here it goes.

I am ForeverOdin, an 18 year-old newer-ish Brony Musician. I have been in music for roughly 4.5 years now, with decent experience in guitar, piano, and various percussion. I'm about 80% self taught, and as far as music goes, I honestly tend to have an independent focus/approach, But I love to work with other artists when possible. Though right now, I'm in my first semester of a general music studies program.
Most of all, I enjoy composing and arranging/mixing in a fairly wide range of styles (New Age, Jazz, Trance/Chill, Rock, Classical, and more). Lately I've had a specific focus on the cute Ponies we all adore, but I also do Video Game Remixes and my own personal stuff. My biggest influences are Billy Joel, Buckethead, Rush, Pink Floyd, Paul van Dyk, and various video game composers.
My [unfortunate] software of choice right now is one I'm ashamed to admit...but up to this point I've used Guitar Pro 6 for a lot of my composing and "sequencing". (I've made it work somehow...kinda). But I'm working my way into better software slowly; right now, I'm learning FL studio until I actually own it.

All-in-all though, I'm still trying to get my chops down, and hope to someday be able to create as awesome of music (Both Pony and Non-pony) as a lot of the great stuff I've seen on here. I truly do look up to a lot of the Brony Musicians. =)

Glad to have you on board, ForeverOdin.

Might I recommend using more....unsavory tactics for acquiring a copy of FL Studio (arrr)? AFAIK, it's generally swept under the rug, and most make the commitment to buy the software for real if they actually make revenue from their music. It's just a suggestion; I have good friends who have done it. The software is SO expensive, and college kids have to eat, right? Up to you :)

Even if you decide to wait until you can actually purchase it, there will be someone on this forum that uses whatever DAW you use, and they could point you to a plethora of resources regarding its use, up to and including their own expertise. I hope you find what you're looking for, and again, welcome to the community :)
