Hey MLR.
I don't really know where to begin with this introduction.. I found this website through random-music-related-mouseclicking. I listened to some songs, read a few threads here and there - decided to register. Really dig the website so far. :)

So, I go by the name Moonkat, I don't know where I got that name from really... Something worth mentioning may be that I love Space and I love cats, so that could be 2 of the many reasons I use 'MOONKAT' as my pseudonym, but there are a lot of other very... Spaced out things behind the name as well.

Anyhow, I've been working with music for a few years now. I think I started out seriously back in my first year at college. I had some previous knowledge about music production before entering college, so naturally I held a bit more knowledge than most of the students in my class.
I was usually chosen by our teacher to help out the other students during class if any was needed. This is one of many things that kept me going when it came to working with music. It really motivated me, knowing I was good at something, and helping people out doing something I really like.

It didn't take long before I started making my own music, getting a bit more in-depth knowledge regarding music production, I started out 'copying' famous songs, trying to recreate the sounds that made these artists what they were/are today, and used these sounds as a starting point, reshaping them to my own liking.
I guess I could label the music I did back then as underground house/indiepop. Weird combination haha.

So I continued doing music; I was sucked in to a lot of different genres and had my phases where I only listened to music specific to one genre. Could be everything from future house to jazz.

I had some connections in the music business here in Sweden so, a few years ago I was given the opportunity to work with music in a multimedia environment, specifically a soundtrack to a Swedish movie that was going to be released in Swedish cinemas. The title of this movie is "The Stig-Helmer Story".
Even though I did not create the music in the movie myself, it was a very interesting oppurtunity to expand my views on music production, and I did get to chance to make some adjustments to the music in the film, that was actually kept in the final mix. That was a major boost to my confidence and that's what really triggered me to start making my own music, and following a dream to be able to have music as my occupation.

Last year, I was on a vacation to Berlin, and this was an experience that would change my life.
I didn't listen much to Techno before visiting Berlin. I didn't know much about it at all. All I thought Techno was before going to Berlin, was that it was music for basement dwelling nerds , with major, melodies without any feeling to it (not indicating that this is a bad thing, just, not my cup of tea!).

I have never been so wrong in my life about something.

Berlin gave me such an insight to what Techno really is, techno has shaped electronic music to what it is today.
When I visited clubs such as Berghain and Tresor, I was amazed by the gritty, messy, old sound of true techno. When I was there, specifically Berghain, Adam Beyer was playing. A Swedish techno icon, and creator of the label Drumcode, and it was one of the best experiences in my life. Which is kind of sad in one way, because I was on a lot of different drugs during my visit. I'm very liberal to when it comes to drugs, I do not judge people who use it and neither those who don't, but it really did change something within me, something positive.

I feel like I've written too much..
I'll try to wrap this up,
I'm a Swedish 22 year old producer, I work mostly with Retrowave inspired music and on another side-project, Techno, mostly making my own tracks, not DJ'ing, as I have no DJ hardware, although, I did reroute my NI Maschine to work as a DJ Controller, haha! Works for the most basic stuff, if you wanna try out Traktor 2 for example and own a Maschine but not a Traktor controller!

I work in Logic X, 99% of the time. As of right now, I focus heavily on my own music, and not recording other artists or "helping out". I just decided to focus on my own stuff for the time being.
I can't say I have any specialisation when it comes to music production since I've worked with most genres, but my focus is on the electronic spectrum.

If you have any questions, or simply wanna talk music, hit me up.
I hope I get the chance to speak to some of you soon.

Here is some music I mentioned in the introduction (this is some ooooold-school stuff ladies and gentlemen, this is a major influence to the explosion of electronic music! :D)
DRUMCODE #1

And here is some of my own music. :)

Hey, I'm FlyingNinjaBannanas (Don't know how I came up with that username, must've been really tired) or Calamity. I make things that relate to other things that may be musical things. I fiqured I'd revisit this place a bit, as music has been a fantastic hobby as of late. At least until I can spread my wings onto a better computer. For now though, I'm sticking to this.

(This is for new people mostly, as I'm sure most people here recognize me or at least know I exist.)

Hello everyone, I'm inkythoughts from Taiwan.
I've been flying sport kites to music, both indoors and out, for about 8 years now,
and started playing music about three years ago.
My father plays classical, so there were already guitars around the house.
I got a steel-string last year, and am still trying to figure out the whole pick thing. And the music thing. I hope to become a street performer someday.
For better or worse, I'ver never been subjected to public schooling.

The first song I learned was a fingerstyle arrangement of the Castle In The Sky theme about five years ago. A friend gave my father the tabs, and I was happily surprised that I could understand them. It's still my main party trick.

I started playing things-not-castle-in-the-sky because my friends were playing terrible pop songs together. They taught me what chords other then C were. For a time, I only played with them. (twice a year)
Then MLP happened, and I started playing much, much more. The motivational power of these ponies knows no bounds.

Hi MLR community.

I'm IvoryDreamer, piano player, home school student, and art lover.

I became a fan of mlp and I started taking music seriously by the time season 2 ended, discovering all the fan music made by many different people was very encouraging for me.

I have been taking piano lessons from my grandmother for pretty much my whole life. The first song I learned from her was fur elise. After that I taught myself music. The latest of which is
Jarrod Radnich's Pirates of the Caribbean medley.

Though for me just playing music is not enough, so I am learning theory, songwriting and composition. Trying to figure out how to write decent lyrics, melodies, and how to put them all together.

Be seeing you.

Oh and my favorite ponies are Octavia Melody, Vinyl Scratch , and Lyra HeartStrings.

inky and Ivory, one after another? What are the odds? And I'm not schooled either!
I love piano music, especially melancholy things and boogie woogie.
How is theory and stuff treating you? I'm one of those people who say they'd like to learn piaino, but the truth is I'd like to be able, magically, to play.
The idea of having to learn theory, plus hearing the same 5 practice songs + scales over and over and over from the kids in neighbouring apartments being drilled turned me off it.
The idea of playing a silly-sounding song repeatedly? Never!
I memorized the Requium For A Dream theme and called it good enough. Now I'm starting to see the merits of scales and understanding theory.

Jokeblue wrote:Oh, and I didn't know Octavia had a last name yet. Is Melody fan-made or is it official?

As far a I know it's still just fan-made. I think it suits her though.

inkythoughts wrote:How is theory and stuff treating you? I'm one of those people who say they'd like to learn piaino, but the truth is I'd like to be able, magically, to play.

I enjoy theory and I can understand it easily.

"Magically" Yup same here though for the composing side of it. I studied Lucid dreaming for a long time so I can magically make music while I slept, though it became more work then to actually just sit down and study composition.
I'm still studying lucid dreaming, (I had one and it was awesome,) But it will be for its own enjoyment.

You can set your notification settings under User Control Panel>Board Preferences. In the "Edit Post Defaults" section there is a setting labelled "Notify me upon replies by default". While technically that doesn't apply to all quotes, it will apply to anyone replying to a thread you have posted in, which should take care of all quotes that matter for discussion (as opposed to someone quoting you in their signature or something).

So if I don't check the "Notify me when a reply is posted" button I don't get notified at all even if someone quotes me? This is so when someone quotes me in there signature I wont get notified every time they post right?
