Applying for music acts

We all love it, otherwise it's unlikely you'd be here. Talk about the show and the fanbase surrounding it. Brony music discussions encouraged.

Applying for music acts

Postby Injustrial » 24 Dec 2013 04:35

I've been thinking of applying for a spot at next year's Summer Sun Celebration, BUCK's music event. I was wondering if anyone had experience with applying for musician spots, or any advice on this? So far, all I can really think about is sending in a demo with ~5 songs and a small description of me and my style. Thoughts?

I'd just assume email the people running it with a description of yourself and the demo

Try asking Lavender Harmony; she played there last year, and she still comes on here fairly often. (From what I've heard though BUCK has incredibly high standards for their music acts, even tighter than BronyCon)

Thanks man, I'll try to get a message through.

They had some pretty great acts this year. But also some fairly mediocre ones, imho. I'm not really thinking highly of my chances, but it's worth a shot, right?

The local convention that i performed at was pretty unorganized i must confess. They flew in a few better known musicians who had performed before and paid their way. They let a bunch of smaller musicians and dj's perform earlier in the evenings and had a performance almost every night. But they didn't do a good job getting the crowds in there so attendancce was minimal, sound checks were scarce, and they didnt have a good speaker system to tap into until the final night. The last night it came all together but it was due to luck to a certain degree.

I guess that's to be expected. Most conventions are fairly new, and not everybody working them have a lot of experience with arranging stuff like this. Still, would be fun to give it a shot, you know

Do apologise for the bump, but thought it'd be nice to address this.

We're not opening applications for music acts for a little while yet. We're still in the planning stages, we have a lot to cover after a minor staff shake-up, but I will still be the person to ask.

I can't reveal anything specific right now, but nobody should be counting themselves out as a performer. I'm looking to set up a Facebook page, so for now keep an eye on the BUCK website and an ear to the ground!

Thanks a lot for replying, I was going to contact you via PM after New Year's, but now more people can see the response.
