$195 out of $3,500 and 3 days left?

I find it hilarious that people shell out 50k for porn and shit all for musical endeavours in this fandom.

Supply over demand I guess; feel kinda sorry for the people behind this. On the other hand, this doesn't seem to be well promoted, I don't even recall any of the listed musicians plugging this on tumblr

This goes right back to the thread where I brought up with the failures in planning with Musiquestria. Why is MLR always buypassed when things get started. Luckily that tour does seem to be going well and getting plenty of tumblr love now that its on.

This thing......I'm not sure what people are donating for.......they want money to buy tables at conventions so they can sell physical cd's? After all the bronycons for the summer have already happened? That's not a bad idea for the future but the individual artists who would benefit should really do that via their own collaborative efforts and this is the absolute first I'm hearing about it. I seriously hope this was actually arranged by the artists they are actually referencing and not a scam (cause that CAN happen). So no one has seen anything posted by the artists referenced?

I strongly doubt that the people looking to start this brony record company ever asked for permission from the people they're going to put mixes from onto CDs.

Moreover I also strongly doubt that the people who are running this have any experience with this themselves and wouldn't run it efficiently, turning it into a $3,500 mess, should they get the funding needed. I obviously don't know anything about the two people running this rc, but I do feel that it's safe to walk out on a limb and suggest that they're people maybe in their early post-teen years with nice set of headphones who don't actually know what they're doing and couldn't critique a song from a producer's standpoint, which could easily lead to them signing people who's music isn't good or well made.

When dealing with money like this is sorta something that seems... I just don't know that they would handle the money well, that it would be put to bad use or something else.

They didn't even take time to describe their credentials and qualifications, how they're going to be doing what they're doing, who they have to judge the music posted, more than likely didn't get permission to feature the artists they're putting on a mix CD (which in the real world could lead to legal issues)...

0/10 overall rating.

I have to agree with that ^. It looks like the equivalent of someone starting a thread on mlr for a new promotion company (without thinking of HOW to do that) but in this case they are asking for the money upfront. If they are promising a physical cd of pony tracks for contributions W/O asking the artists on it FOR the legal right to distribute that IS by purposes a scam.

I think if they fail their drive (%) that money MAY actually go to indiegogo vs the person who started it thus making it impossible to fund those few limited edition samplers. Thus making those who donated even feel more worse for chucking their money away.

I haven't gotten a responce back but I've gone through Omni's and Cyril's blogs now too and neither have said anything; making me suspect this is BS.

Agreed. If you get to send them an ask so they can be aware and shut that down thru indiegogo if it IS a scam. At work right now as I'd otherwise do that myself.

I should probably explain how I discovered this. Essentially, Tarby recently put up a ReverbNation account, and he put this down as his record label on said site.

Hm, well, we haven't seen anything else about the other artists, nor has Tarby or anybody else who is mentioned in the pegasound indiegogo talked about this as we are aware right now.

If this is serious and real there has been absolutely no attempt to promote it, so it's dead.

I am a little confused by this statement. Are they trying to get bronies on tour? If they are then how is $3500 going to get them there?

Don't trust record labels. There's nothing a label can do that you can't do for yourself. Collectives for the sake of convenience? Yes. Bands for the sake of collaboration? Yes. Guilds for the sake of protection? Absolutely.

Labels? Absolutely not. In this day and age, there's no reason for record labels to exist and moreover, there's literally zero reason you should ever give up the publishing rights to your music.

This is obviously a little bit of a rant, but record labels are seriously evil, insidious, music-killing entities, and you should never, ever ever ever, ever sell your soul to one.

I can appreciate the relevance of that rant. I'd honeslty prefer to go with promotion services instead of labels. I kinda wanna keep my music as MY music, y'know?
