My first thought when seeing the designs:



Why is their hair so fucking long? I mean seriously. At first I thought it was a tail, but then I realized that it's just their hair that extends past their knees. They're people now, why do they look like a meeting of the oompa loompa UN? Why are their cutie marks on their faces - what's wrong with them just wearing their cutie marks on their clothes or something or even a necklace or bracelet? WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY WEARING ON THEIR FEET?

I am at a loss for words. Why did they feel the need to do this? Is it because the writing staff said that humans will never be in MLP so Hasbro was just like "FINE WE'LL MAKE THEM ALL HUMANS OKAY? I MEAN, WHO LIKES THE NEW MY LITTLE PONY SHOW AMIRITE? BRB MAKING TRANSFORMERS SHOUJO MAGICAL ACADEMY!"

The designs are just... Look okay, I'm not passing judgement on the show - for all I know it'll turn out fine, but I'm not sure I'll be able to watch it with those...things moving around and talking.

Of course, the ponies in show don't look exactly like their still counterparts used for promotions and stuff.

I hope they make it take place in the grim dark future of Equestria where there is only war, and there is no peace amongst the hills, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of the thirsting gods. Oh yeah, and all the magic of friendship and all that. But not too friendly. Because there's war everywhere.

I just watched the trailer and have to say I'm conflicted.

There is a part of me that is glad that the story is a direct branch from the MLP universe, but at the same time it kind of concerns me because now there is some level of human-kind that will be canon.

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but won't that potentially change the layout of the world a littler bit? Obviously, human-kind is of a completely different dimension from Equestria but it still seems to be walking a kind of fine line.


Now, given that Twilight - as the Twi we all know and love - is traveling to this place, I can stomach seeing the show. But I can only hope for two things...


1. EG does not in any way dilute or change the face of Season 4 and so on.

2. Lyra gets a speaking part. I also hope that either Lyra someone moved to the human world and is exuberant about it. or her human counter-part somehow discovers Twilight was a pony and in a twist wishes she herself was a pony.



Some fanfare would be appreciated. <3

Well, I must say that I am speechless. Not in a bad sense, not in a good sense. I'm not quite sure how to react. I'll most likely watch it just because, and because I'm easily entertained, I'll probably like it (just like how I enjoyed the brony documentary). It really looks very similar to LPS. Also, Twi straight shipping is canon from what I can pull from the commercial. Can't say much about the others with the exception of Rarity who we already know is straight because of canon. We'll just have to see if Hasbro pushes a ship onto the other characters or not.

Also holy hell I just thought of something. What if, since twi has the feels for the guy we saw in the ad, at the end of the movie when they all go back to equestria, twi brings him with? It's either that or twi ends up heartbroken over being forced to leave him behind.

I am so excited about this! I am totally going to see it in theaters even.
I find it funny that this has caused such an uproar amongst bronies, when our whole fandom is (supposed to be) based on not Pre-judging things before having seen them (this extends to Littlest Pet Shop too, for those sorts of hypocrites.)
My only concern is the romance bit. I'm afraid this may render many OTPs false. (Tell them to make fluttershy and pinkie fall in love)

Eery have you seen Napoleon Dynamite? They took that genre (high schooler movies) and spun it a totally different way. And they ended up with one of the best films ever made. There's no way EG will turn out that good (nothing will ever be) but I'm just saying this because this genre, as with any genre, is not 100% amazing or 100% crappy. It all depends on someone's ability to make it their own, and I don't think we can start judging that from one minute of footage.
(i've heard that Perks of being a Wallflower movie was pretty good. And I looooved Juno. Otherwise though, you are right, most of this kind of film are just stupid. Mean Girls?)

Iunno man, I'm feeling pretty good about this whole movie thing. Sunset Shimmer is supposed to be Celestia's former student, and she apparently stole the crown from the Crystal Kingdom, so maybe she's actually a decent villain and not another Diamond Tiara? Also I saw a magical explosion in the trailer, which is always nice.

She's somewhat closer to pony-Twi in terms of design; also notice her distinct lack of wings.

I think this could be good. As long as they don't run a separate series on it.
But yeah, FiM has needed a shake-up for the past year, and I don't think the alicorn thing was going to cut it.
