Genres you'd LOVE to see some Brony music made in

We all love it, otherwise it's unlikely you'd be here. Talk about the show and the fanbase surrounding it. Brony music discussions encouraged.

Needs more orchestral, and not with crap samples that sound like they should be in a 90's RPG.

If anyone can figure out what genre this is, please tell me, cause I have no clue. :D

Hey, 90s RPG music is awesome!

Old school hip hop, please. It's not even that difficult to do. Get a decently funky beat with some clapping and you've got the Sugarhill Gang.

^ Yes.

TBH, I just want to see more music period. Whether in an over saturated genre or not. I think if more people do it, more really cool songs and artists will be found. Then pony music will become it's own niche of the music industry and- nope, going off into fantasyland now.

Well the loot's the important part, ain't it? ~_~

I suppose the important part's to do what the hell ya want, now isn't it? Unfortunately, that means that not everyone wants to push the envelope. Going off what I know of your reputation (I am incredibly out of the loop), not everyone is you. But. But. If enough people get into it, then perhaps more will be inspired to try out innovative stuff. And then promptly invent a new genre.

And then pony music becomes the wave of the future. 20 years from now the modern dance scene of that time will owe it's roots to Brony musicians. And I will be happy.

The profundity of this conversation is high.

But I think people need to learn what came before before I start trying to make something new. You know? At least a little bit.

It's very clear that you are pointing to my post about trashy electronic bass music and not at Kyoga's.

I would really love to see new genres. Not like hybrids or fusions or whatever (though neuro-chip would admittedly be cool), but entirely new genres emerging. Or at least I want to see people pushing the envelope of existing genres, trying new things and all.

Man, I can't even comprehend what a new genre would be like. I mean, it feels like everything that can be done has already been done, and then it fell into genre-mixing and subgenres. And then I found out about all this electronic stuff like house and dubstep. For me, imagining a new genre is like imagining a new color, or like, another dimension. I feel like it's there, but I can't see it.

Exactly. Most genres (from what I've read) developed out of earlier styles of music (ex. dubstep). But even after the original dubstep stuff emerged, someone took it and transformed it into something they liked (modern dubstep), and thus dubstep (or brostep) emerged. In that way, it's one of the most specific yet most varied musical genres in existence.

Basically, new genres generally both develop from older ones as well as from what some guy think sounds good. Skrillex didn't just sit down and think 'hmm, why don't I make a new genre of music'

(please excuse me if anything up there sounds stupid, I haven't slept in a few days)
