Brony Meetups?

We all love it, otherwise it's unlikely you'd be here. Talk about the show and the fanbase surrounding it. Brony music discussions encouraged.

Brony Meetups?

Postby DerpyGrooves » 22 Jul 2011 22:18

I just attended my first brony meetup yesterday. We went to the arcade and then just sort of ran around town singing songs and riffing about fanfiction. It was straight wacky, compounded by the fact that there was easily 15 bronies there.

Has anypony else made a meetup happen and if so, how'd it go? I had a great time+highly recommended!!

I so desperately wanna go to a Brony meet-up. But I haven't been able to. *sigh*
So, what does one DO at a meet-up anyway? *please by all means answer Derpy Groves first*

There's one really close to where I live the day after tomorrow.

Problem? Family obligations. =/ Hope they do one again soon, 'cause I really want to go to a meet-up.

Well for the most part we just chilled out and talked about ponies. We walked around town a bit and sort of settled down in a local park for a bit, but there was very little explicit structure. Most everyone was wearing something pony-related, and a fellow brought his fanfic for everypony to look at, it was pretty nice!

That said, it was only our first meeting, and there's already talk of us putting together more specific activities, like tabletop gaming, etc...

Well the fandom's not going anywhere, so I'm sure you'll be able to make the next one happen :) You won't regret it!!

If all bronies were relatable to a specific character, I think I would get along best with (besides us music Bronies of course) Rarity-like bronies. I am a total fashion nut and have a slight vanity issue lol. Tis a shame not many bronies like Rarity /=

Rarity is best pony, clearly. Anything anypony says to the contrary is made of lies and falsehoods. Or they just have a really funny way of saying "Rarity". =3

This sounds like a good time!

I attended the MLP:FIM panel at Anime North in Toronto, which was pretty much a brony meet-up. Only about 50 or so people could fit in the tiny panel room due to fire codes, but there were a bunch more who had to get turned away. I chatted idly with a few people in line, even participated in the multiple (attempted) WWU group singalongs, but fled as soon as the panel ended and brony meetups began outside. Mostly because I am a bitter hermit

Nobody hosts non-Yank conventions.

Besides I wouldn't even go to them. It'd involve taking public transport and PUBLIC TRANSPORT FUCKING SCARES THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME. And then I'd have to talk to people and I FUCKING HATE THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF TALKING TO PEOPLE.

I went to the first NYC Brony Meetup hosted by Purple Tinker. Basically it went like this: bunch of bronies showed up early and invaded a small restaurant, filled that restaurant up and had the other half wait outside another restaurant conversing and stuff. The first half of bronies got kicked out of said restaurant and then we tried getting into the other restaurant only to find out our "reservations" would not be honored. We relocated to a park nearby where we played fightan games with Purple's Rainbow Dash stick and talked Ponies and had a small pony exchange. We finally made our way to Little Italy (33 in number) and invaded Cha-Cha's, where we had an amazing meal and ponies were everywhere. There were some memes spewed but not nearly as many as some other ponies here were talking about. Actually, there were a lot of G1-3 fans at this one, too, so there were nice discussions about the growth of MLP over the years etc and some giveaways of G1s and G2s. It was nice walking around a public place with a large group of people who have no shame like me for a change instead of me just doing it by myself. Leading a group of bronies while playing Winter Wrap Up on my kazoo that I have on my person at all times was quite a highlight for me.

Did anyone sing the song? That would of been really weird and hilarious.

I finally convince my parents to let me off of this road trip to Michigan (and back) so I could go to the meetup today, and BAM. Most ridiculous thunderstorm I've seen in years. So, I call my friend who said he's going, over and over, and he doesn't pick up. I call his house, and apparently, he isn't even home. By this point, it's half an hour before the train left, and even if I took that train, I'd be late to the meetup.

Well, fuck you too, life.

I organized a meetup/shoot at anime north after my panel. it went pretty good, a bit to heavy on the photoshoot aspect of it all. I'm currently organizing one for Ottawa and will make sure to have it at a restaraunt or someplace more condusive to socialising..preferably a restaraunt that serves "Frienship Lubricant"

Being in boring Britain (and the quiet, farmy southwest of it, too) means there are pretty much no such things as cult social gatherings.

This makes me mildly jelly of anyone who gets the chance to attend meetups. One day, when I move to the US...

I'm going to meet in Hamburg in 2 weeks with a few European drawfriends, including theartrix and sponsz. :)

It's a closed meeting though, only 4 bronies and 2 friends attending, but we'll be there for a full 4 days. If we're going to do livestreams, I'll let you guys know... although that probably won't happen, considering we're staying at a hotel.
