Huh, NMM speaks in modern English, Luna in early modern English (Shakespeare). Guess they came up with the old style speaking idea later on.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot. Luna for five seconds spoke in modern english too. Just a continuity fuck.

Also, since Luna can transform to NMM at will, does anyone think that perhaps both sisters have a 'magical' form they can use (for intimidation or otherwise), with Luna preferring her original look, and Celestia having an affinity for her 'magical' form? (Meaning, she has a form where she's like Luna, probably with the pink mane and everything, but chooses to never use it again). An interesting theory at least.

In addition, does anyone think that Luna's personality is the same fandom Luna we've all come to love, at least, when she is on her own/with celestia? For example, I noticed when she is looking at her statue after being rejected by Ponyville, she has a clear sad expression on her face. It's only when Twilight calls out to her that her 'regal mode' is engaged. Same thing happens with the bridge scene as far as I remember.

Apparently Rarity was supposed to be in this episode, according to Faust:

"She was still working on her costume, and perfectionist as she is, it wasn't ready. (I forget what it was.) There was a whole sequence where Twilight brought Luna to Rarity's for a makeover, hoping she could give Luna a "softer," less intimidating look. Rarity freaked out about get to dress up a Princess and over did it, covering her in the pinkiest pink princess get up ever. Luna disliked it and in taking it off, had a piece of the dress in her mouth. Pinkie showed up just at that moment and screamed that Nightmare Moon ate a princess and all the kids screamed and ran."

Sounds kinda funny, but I can understand if they had to cut it. It was sad to hear Lauren say things like "I guess they cut it after I left" -- it feels strange.

I love how Luna didn't know what fun was. She's been alive for over a thousand years and needed to be taught how to have fun by a bunch of small town ponies playing "throw the spider on the web". Celestia is the worst sister.

I think the history books have it wrong. She didn't refuse to lower the moon because she was jealous. She refused because her life sucked so much she didn't know what fun was. No wonder she became Nightmare Moon
