Name of this style of percussion?

Postby prozeyic » 22 Jun 2013 02:04

I want to figure out what this is called and how to create it.

The sort of 8-bit splashy drum things that come in at around 1:20. I don't want to use them in this context but couldn't be bothered finding another example.

Any ideas?

Yeah like that, less hard hitting and a lot more glitchy sounding though. I dunno, just want to find out what it's called so I can look it up.

Eery's example definitely sounds like it could be reversed drum samples chopped and bitcrushed, maybe with some other effects.

The one you posted, prozeyic, sounds like it could just be heavily bitcrushed drum samples with delay put on them.

As far as I know, I haven't ever heard a name for that kind of effect, but I don't really know, I don't listen to a whole lot of IDM.
