Liquid Stranger Mechanical Bass

Postby DJ Skrudge » 12 Apr 2013 07:09

Hey guys! I've been messing around trying to recreate this particular mechanical bass that Liquid Stranger uses in a couple of his tracks, but I can't seem to get anywhere with it.

The bass in question starts at about 0:32, it sounds like a mechanical dog barking. Any idea on how to make something similar to this on Massive or Sytrus? Thank you guys in advance!
I worship Fluttershy.

I'd say try an FM synth (sytrus will do fine).

Use one sine wave play a low note, FM it with a triangle at same ratio at 100% and another triangle at ~32:1 between 15% and 30% then move the volume of the to mod ops up and down.

It will give you a good start.

Try to change the waveforms of the ops and/or add another chain of the same type with 3 other ops with some differences to beef up the sound.
Also, detuned unison should help.
