{halp} Midi file -> Note paper

Postby FLAOFEI » 18 Mar 2013 14:15

So I have this project file in fl that I want to put down on paper.
I could always do it the old fashion way by hand, but I'm a bit to lazy to do that straight away.

Dose anyone have a program that converts midi files into printable notes, or at least some easy way to write notes?

Fl can convert to a score sheet. Open the piano roll and from the drop down menu go File>Export as score sheet.

Oh. I didnt know fl could do that O.o
Tested it, and it seems fairly usefull. Doesn't seem to be able to detect accents or loops though, which might be problematic since I'm gonna use it allot for percussion, which is both repetitive and needs its accents.

Got it just in case. It's probably easier than drawing in accents by hand, and easier to format in a readable manner. Yeah, I'm probably gonna use this.

Thanks pplz c:

Can you do the opposite? Can you input music notation into a DAW? I have the hardest time reading chords on the piano roll.

You could just put the sheet music into the piano roll by hand, but I'm pretty certain that there isn't any software that will do that for you just quite yet.

You can write your tunes in software that uses sheet music notation, export midi and then import it into the DAW. Assuming FL since that's what this thread has been on, it's under "File>Import>MIDI File"

I can recommend musescore or anvil studio (what I used for four years) which is also free and gets the job done.

If you want to produce sheet music, the best program to use is Sibelius. You can import a midi file, and manage the score from there (adding titles, lyrics, track names, etc.)

The sound quality is pretty bad, but it gives you a music score.

I used to have a program called Capella Scan. It's OCR for scores. ;)

Dunno if there are other alternatives.
