Free to use ambient background noise (looking)

Postby prozeyic » 05 Jan 2013 02:41

Does anyone know where I can find some good quality ambient background noise? Would prefer for it to be free to use, but I can pay for it if I need to. Looking for maybe some light rain, some beach waves and stuff or city noises. And by free I also mean I will be able to use it without having to worry about copyright.

Thanks for the help

Maybe you go go outside with a mic and just record stuff. XD

Only kidding. In response to your question, http://www.freesound.org/browse/tags/ambient/ looks good. Do dome searching around on that and you should pretty much find anything you need.

Definitely not enough people using field recordings as their could be. Don't be afraid to use that ipod mic and then interject that into music as it gives it a real organic feel..

Like DarkShadow said, go outside and record something. But if you don't want to do that you can also make an atmospheric pad, they seem to work great for me at least.

you might wanna go out with something a little higher quality. :x

Actually a low quality gaming mic or something might give pretty cool effect and make the atmosphere less blatantly obvious.

I do have a couple mics lying around. The one I sitting on my desk is the Blue Snowball. Never really used it for sampling though. But yeah I might wait for it to rain and stick the microphone outside my window

I've always used freesound if I ever needed ambient noise.
