Receptor Neuro Bass?

Postby ChromaticChaosPony » 07 Dec 2012 16:00

I was wondering how to make Receptor style neurofunk basslines. He's clearly doing much more than detuning two saw waves and running it through a vocoder. All I could really figure out is that he often sidechain compresses them a lot. I was wondering if anyone could help me pick apart the sound.

I'm not too worried about the leads (I can make my own), I just want to know what he's doing with the reese basses. Particularly like the ones in Wifi Waves, Cigarette Lighter and Burning Up.

Finally, someone else who realizes that Receptor is a god :3

While I can't really help on the subject of his reeses, I'll point you towards a series of song making videos done by Receptor himself:

Also, in case you haven't seen it, you should check out this guy called 'Loki' (here).

He's another dnb god. He does tutorials in Reason but I'm sure they're translatable into Massive or whatever (if they're not from the video alone I suppose I could help you by explaining it). Unfortunately he's pretty much gone, but what he has is fantastic.

Not bad :3
Just add some eerie pads, a bunch of closed hats, and some weird, vocoded vocals and you've got yourself a tune worthy of DarkstepWarrior (even though he usually does dubstep) :3

Thanks man.

Though I'm probably going to make something that sounds more like 800 Pound Gorilla. Receptor's sound is amazing, but it sounds even better once Neonlight adds a shitload of riser neuro basses.
