Music Recommendations?

Postby cloudshovit » 05 Dec 2012 23:27

I admit I was kinda ignorant with all this complextro stuff. But I have realized that some of them are actually decent, like Madeon, Wolfgang, Porter, Mord Fustang... And since it seems a lot of the members here are into that kinda vibe as well, who else can you recommend? I'm interested in the more intricate, micro edit stuff with like a lot of arpeggios and shit.

Sorry but I'm still not really interested with all that massive, yoi stuff, no offence.

Ummm, just because I love Drum & Bass, I'm going to recommend (drumroll).. Drum & Bass.

Preferably Netsky, Camo & Krooked, Dirtyphonics, Metrik, Smooth, which would probably be more preferred by you, there is the other style in Noisia, Rockwell, Phace, Uman, which is neurofunk & then Liquid which consists of Stan SB, Maduk, Feint, Hybrid Minds, and so forth.

Of course, this is quite different from Complextro/French House, so you may not like it.

I like Icicle as well, but I'm looking into more melodic stuff that are technical and dynamic.

Hmm, that would be more like Smooth, he uses lots of FX but keeps his tunes very melodic (atleast imo),

Anyways, might not be for you though, and if so, ta-ta.

Why is this in technique? Are you looking for new inspiration? If so, why not try something non-electronic?

Mikkas, Zedd, Knife Party, Pegboard Nerds, Soulero, and Eminence are some great electro house/complextro-ish artists that I can think of off the top of my head. If you're looking for a bit of a stretch, try Afrojack, Krewella and Hardwell

Dyro, Hard Rock Sofa, Basto, EDX, Warkids, Cherry Coke, Sebastian Ingrosso, Eric Prydz, Nathan C, Avesta, Fareoh, DBerrie, Vicetone, as for "pony" musicians Archie (some people don't know him around here still), and PhonyBrony.

There's a ton more, but this should keep you busy for a while. They're not all crazy complextro, but I'm going off of "interested in the more intricate, micro edit stuff with like a lot of arpeggios and ****" and "I'm looking into more melodic stuff that are technical and dynamic" filtered by "not really interested with all that massive, yoi stuff"

Yeah I also got into that as well, along with some classical guitar and flamenco. But I'm interested on how these recents acts are able to apply catchy melodic stuff into electronic music but in a smoother pop oriented fashion unlike the glitch stuff that I used to into heavily.

Sorry if I posted this in Technique. I was looking for inspiration, yes, but I was looking for acts that are more technical than just musical (although thats also still included) and so I wasn't sure where else to post it.

Would this be the general music recommendations thread?

If you don't like the yoys, then move on from electro house. Move into the world of hard dance. Organ donors, Klubfiller, Alex Kidd, it doesn't matter who you are. There is no excuse not to love crappy minimal party music.

deep house, french house, UK funky etc really don't have that much yois. I think I'm done with extreme types of dance music (digital hardcore, cybergrind).

Why can't you appreciate hard AND softer music. You're not going to get very far if you only like one. But if you choose to stay away from the hard, then electro house is not for you. Go listen to Project 46 or 7 lions or something.

Remember when i pointed out a few times about how we need a general MUSIC discussion subforum because we don't have one and so new threads end up in weird places? Yeah....
