What does your Music remind you of

Since my style has kind of been all over the place in the past, I've got plenty to compare my stuff to (hopefully not in a way that comes across as arrogant, though ^_^).

Stuff like 'Bored of Earth' (especially the unreleased first version), reminds me of this kind of thing:


When I went on my drum and bass kick, I think I was trying to go for a sound kind of like this, and I think it went reasonably well in my 'Artificial Perfection' remix.


And when I don't go all crazy with my synths, the house I've been working on recently has been vaguely to this effect.

I'm going to put this quite descriptively.

My music reminds me of the type of shit you take when you go to a Mexican restaurant and eat some really hot food and get food poisoned. I'm talking diarrhea to the tenth power.

Actually I really like my track "Mare of Darkness", and "Fluttershy's Fear" was okay. But other than those two they all remind me of that which I described above.

I dunno about reminding me of anything, but all of my tracks have colors. Like, literally I see colors in my mind's eye when I listen to them. Technically, all music does this.

One of my tracks is even named for this phenomenon:

My music fluctuates between styles, but there's still a certain sound to it that even I can't quite place exactly what it is. It's a mixture of heavy percussion, giant pads, and bass grooves, that have all merged from a variety of influences, such as:

- Game Soundtracks
- Tool
- Shpongle
- Beats Antique
- Cinematic Soundtracks

Add all those together, throw in a bit of my own love for eerie settings, post-apocalyptic wastelands, and the vastness of space, and you've got a pretty good idea of why I sound like I do.

A collection of all my favorite influences mashed together to convey my own emotions in their own way.

The closest thing I can think of is Aphex Twin, but even that's kind of off. It's probably because most of my songs are slow and don't have that much of a real direction in the song, even though I desperately try to make a direction and fail, and he just rolls with it and does it wonderfully (mind you, I've only listened to Selected Ambient Works II, so don't quote me on this stuff). I use more percussion though.

I seriously would like to make something faster and less laid back, but it never turns out well.

Well, my uni music anyway...

As for my other stuff, I'd take a guess at more geared towards the darker game soundtracks. Regardless of what I do, I use dissonance, so those kind of soundtracks (Bioshock, The Binding of Isaac) mixed with the golden ones (Zelda, Banjo-Kazooie) I reckon! With a dash of contemporary classical, because I can't escape that influence!

I don't really know most of the tracks are heavily influenced by VGmusic

In terms of my rapping. I'd say my technicality is somewhere between Eminem and Canibus. I've also got some Lupe Fiasco in me. I've been compared to, along with the aforementioned, Will Smith, Wiz Khalifa, and I think some others. I've picked up a lot from Jay-Z, Vinnie Paz, Nas, and probably Mike Shinoda.
