Midi Keyboard?

Postby JeremiS » 08 Jan 2013 06:03

I'm thinking of getting a MIDI keyboard... thing is, I don't know much about them.

Okay, so I need a keyboard that:
Can plug into a USB slot
Is relatively small (about the size of my normal typing keyboard)
Is portable (no big mess of cables)
Looks good (What? I'm a sucker for aesthetics)
Compatible with iPad (I need it for school as well as home)
Reasonably cheap (I can't afford anything over, say $80 dollars)

I don't really need all those knobs and stuff.
I was looking at the Korg MicroKEY, it's basically what I want, I was just wondering if there was anything better.
DAW: FL Studio 10
go away you suck if you can read this what? I don't even post I'm a lurker

Korg NanoKey2, Korg MicroKEY or Akai LPK25 would be perfect for what you have described. You will need the Apple USB Camera Connection Kit to use them on an ipad.

The compatible with iPad thing just means it needs to be class compliant. Look at any music store for a keyboard you like. Akai and Korg make relatively small ones these days that fit into many small desk arrangements, but know with the smaller keys it won't be as easy to play, and with limited range it won't be as flexible and you'll have less room for experimentation.

I had the LPK25 for a while before upgrading to the Axiom A.I.R. Mini 32, the LPK25 is super tough and fits your needs. If you want extra controls or something get the air 32. This one is nice too, but I've barely used one: http://m-audio.com/products/en_us/KeystationMini32.html

It really depends I guess
