Post Remix War R&R thread.

Postby General Mumble » 25 Sep 2011 07:14

Well, that was really something. I'll say first that I am proud of everyone here for what was achieved last night. And when I say what you have achieved, I mean how well everyone did individually with their mixes and swaps, and the fact that we managed to put together over 5 hours of pretty excellent music.

For me, last night was:

Exhausting,
Exhilarating,
Entertaining,
and uh...
Enspiring?

So pat yourselves on the back, pat each other on the back, and share some love in this thread.

What were your highlights? What made you laugh? What made you shed manly tears? and what made you everything inbetween?
Something, something, ponies.
Something, something, friendship.

Sadly, I had to leave pretty early in the synchlisten due to physical exhaustion, and thus missed the majority of the listening. I'm going through to listen now.

Of what I heard though, this whole weekend has been:

Comedic,
Cultured (i'm look at you CatsMilly)
Cutting it close to deadlines (seriously, 2 of my songs weren't finished until right before the deadline)
Collab inspiring x 100,000,000,000 (so many...)
but most importantly

Community building. There was just so much support for everyone's music, and people getting new ideas and techniques from each-other, which I think is exemplified in just how much music we did create. (5 disc box-set much?)

All of my creativity was sucked out yesterday...

Well more specifically, melodies are playing through my head at such an impressive rate that I have no choice but to create more and more pony music.

The Remix Wars have kindled something. something big. And its so cool to be a part of this.

<3 you all

I had no problem staying and listening to the whole five and a half hours, even if it meant staying up 'til five getting my homework done.

I am a snob with my music, guys. DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!?π

I had a lot of fun listening to the whole 5+ hours even though i was incredibly tired through the whole thing. (Confound ponies they drive me to insomnia etc.)

Here's a few of my favorite entries. (in no particular order)

Foozogz As PinkiePieSwear - Sparkle (Season Rebirth)
sci vs [voodoopony] - Luna's Spectrum [extended spectrum mix]
Chain Algorithm vs. Derpy Grooves - Don't Let Me Fall (Silva Hound Edit)
Makkon as General Mumble - Test Pony
Silva Hound as Derpy Hooves - Harmonic Discord

I was kind of in a daze all day today.

Someone in IRC mentioned brostep, and I felt the need to create a song in response. Using NI Massive presets, of course.

however, the "big dirty bass" sounds weren't very inspiring once I got in-DAW...so this happened instead.
I think it about captures how I've been today. :3

EPIC.
Even if there were problems with the tardiness, playlist making, synchlistening, publicizing (it's Monday and it hasn't been on EqD yet) and just about everything else, the music is STELLAR.
