I know plenty of pieces that have dodgy time signatures, yet sound perfectly fine. It's all in the execution! Although, a more detailed idea into what 'dodgy' or 'weird' time signatures actually means to people would be good...
If we're talking 7/4, 13/8, etc, then that's pretty easy to execute well!
If we're talking 25/16, e/pi, etc, then that might be a tad more difficult...
Overkillius wrote:I've tried doing stuff with odd time signatures (5/8 7/8 etc.) and time signature changes and how it fits into my compositions. I Still don't have it quite figured out yet. I really need to dedicate a time at least once every week to experiment...
Dr_Dissonance wrote:Weird time signatures can be tamed by dividing them into smaller parts, so if you're a fan of 7/8, that could be 3+2+2/8 or 2+3+2/8, or 3+3+1/8! They all work fine, just need to organise it!
