Magical Mystery Cure: The Rock Opera (Female singers Needed)

Postby Pickslide1992 » 16 Feb 2013 12:26

Hey everyone. I know this is just mere hours after the episode aired, but I had a crazy idea while watching: Let's make this into a rock opera! However as much as I'd like to try, I can't do this alone. I need singers, I need instrumentalists, and I'll need people who can help rearrange the music so the story can be told entirely in song, maybe with some spoken narration in between the tracks (Describing the action between songs).

Here's what I need:

Voice actors/singers (For the mane 6 and Spike, a narrator, the princesses, and the chorus)

Instrumentalists (Since this is a rock opera, lead guitarists, acoustic guitarists, keyboardists, a drummer or two, a bassist, and possibly someone who can do orchestral)

Arrangers (People who can arrange the music/transcribe the music for the musicians/singers, figure out which subgenre will work best for which song, etc.)

I myself will provide rhythm guitar, hence why I didn't put that down under instrumentalist. If you're interested, please let me know here or via Skype so I can set up a group and we can get to work!

(P.S., Mods, I couldn't decide if this would fit here or in the album section, so please use your best judgement on whether or not this should be moved.)

Update: I have enough instrumentalists, but I'm lacking in singers and arrangers.

The first song should be remade into death metal

Vocals for some of the characters, you say?

This sounds like a job for... Rina!

Rina's an obvious choice, but I don't want her doing the only voice acting. Plus judging by the drops she did here, she does some characters better (Fluttershy, Pinkie, Twilight) better than others (Celestia).

Kyoga, I have two lead players, but I'd love to have you aboard. Not everyone's going to work on the same song, though I might change that for the final song.

Lore, I need a pianist mainly or someone who can do some subtle synths.

Wow, I wasn't able to watch the episode until today, but I basically had the same idea (although I was thinking more early Baroque type operas. I feel like Rock operas tend to deal with lofty subjects and have very abstract narratives.) I might be able to contribute something, but barring that, if you ever get beyond the conceptualization stage I'd be willing to turn some people in your direction.

We're still going through the planning. I need arrangers and voice actors, I think we're good with instrumentalists.

Attached is Celestias Balled recorded with acoustic drums. Just an experiment, not a great recording and ignore the ending, it got a little messy. I discovered this was a lot harder to play to than anticipated. The timing changes throughout the song, and the end is just nuts with slow downs, speed ups, triplets into free time. kinda of hard to track. be gentle with the feedback it was just an experimnet.

Update: I believe I have everyone I need for this. I just have to organize who's doing what and who's doing what song. I will abstain except for the first and 4th songs. Mainly it's because of school and such I haven't done much with this yet, but we can start anytime at this point.
