Kontakt Orchestral Library... For free.

This is really impressive. Constructed from public domain samples, part of the KVR competition, I'm really impressed with what they;ve achieved. It sounds very realistic when all put together, I cannot fault them in the slightest, these guys deserve a pat on the back.

So if you've got Kontakt and need some good orchestral samples, and can't afford the big ones like East West of CInesamples, this is a must!

If anyone can figure out what genre this is, please tell me, cause I have no clue. :D

Well, the samples presented on the homepage were pretty nice, however, I downloaded it and tried them out:
Running on Mac, legal version of Kontakt 4:
First of all it was not possible for Kontakt to recognize the folder or the subfolders as a library.
So I tried to load some single instruments directly, and see, finally I can play them.... well... not really:
I am not able to play proper chords with any of the sampled string instruments: I managed to play 2 notes together, however, if I press them a little bit after each other, the first one played goes into the release state of the sample, means it doesn't stop completely, but it says that I released the key.
Skipping further through the library I find some other mistakes: Samples are crackling, having too much white noise (e.g. Clavichord). The Piano in the library is detuned.

Is it just me who is having these problems? Please try it out and report it.

ADDON:
Went further trough the library: Have the same problems with the woodwinds and the brass instruments like I have with the strings (see above). Moreover, some of the woodwinds are tuned/played wrong.
Pro: Percussions sound really nice so far, except of that one gong sample with clicks in it.

I don't have Kontakt so I have no way of testing any of it. I'm going by what others are saying, and while you should expect some variance in quality, it sounds like you should look into your Kontakt, because it shouldn't be forcing you into monophonic.

I decided to download this to see if I had similar problems to PeakFreak.
I'm using Windows 7/Kontakt 5, both legal.

The library thing I don't care about. At least 3/4 of my sample library collection are ones which technically can't be added as libraries, so navigating to them with the file explorer is all good!

The crackling in the samples/slight detuning mentioned are there for me too. Tuning can be fixed with a little pitchbend magic, but the crackling is a pain.

The monophonic thing for me IS HAPPENING too. When I try to play chords, one note continues (usually the highest) and the others parp before stopping. My Kontakt is running fine for other sample libraries, so it must be the library.

That being said, considering the size of these samples, it shouldn't be too hard to just make multiple tracks without wrecking your RAM.

Also, the horns sound rubbish.

But considering these are free, they're pretty good! Definitely worth considering if you don't want to break your bank...because your bank's empty after getting Kontakt...

You just need to get your hands dirty to make them shine.

EDIT: This on the other hand works really well.
