Dr Dissonance's Convolution Creator!

Postby Dr_Dissonance » 29 Jul 2011 22:47

So I have no idea where to put this...

I've decided to do some more real-time electronics for this semester of music composition at Uni. So, I've been practicing!

I've put together a convolutor (convoluter?), which basically fuses two sounds together.
It's still in its infancy and I'll update it as I go, fixing known problems and hopefully getting microphone compatibility, so you can change your voice in real-time!

But you will need the program "Max Runtime" in order for it to work, which you can get here:
http://www.filepivot.com/projects/maxms ... _45300.zip for Windows!
http://www.filepivot.com/projects/maxms ... _45300.dmg for Mac!

You can get my patch stuff here: http://www.mediafire.com/?frzdfm6tk9ihp3q

Just open USER PATCH only! I hope it's all self explanatory, but you should get this on your screen if it worked!

And here's an example of what I did with 5 minutes of playing...

The first thing is "Scootaloo! Scoot-Scoot-Scootalooooooooo!!!" of course...
Second is a tubular bell sample...
Third is a fusion of the two...
Not terribly exciting, but if anyone comes up with anything cool, lets hear it!

I'll fix it as quickly as I can, with the time I have (which isn't much)...
And telling me about any bugs I don't know about would be cool!

So we’ll hunt you. Because you can take it. Because you’re not our hero.

That's trippy. The only context in which I've heard of convolution was in convolution reverb plugins lol.

Ha yes, I've noticed that it's rarely used...probably because it's more of a maths thing than a music thing...
But anyway, here's another result of my messing with the system I created:

This one is of these two, with the first being the primary sound:

Lol, what is happening? Well, the first one on the recording is with the Squelcher at 70, the second one is with the Squelcher at 700! Kind of sounds like there's a bee stuck in the sound file...
