Heh, well, I rarely use a DAW, I tend to use Sibelius...but if I do need one, I use Adobe Audition, partly because it doubles as a spectrum analyzer/manipulator, which is handy for my more experimental works...

It's true by reputation, but I haven't had any performance issues so far. I have an i7 processor (8 cores) and 12 gigs of triple channel RAM (took a very very long time to save up enough for this rig). On my old computer, though, everything lagged. Even Winamp. :[
