Microphone Suggestion (+Need help deciding on headphones)

Postby Watashig » 04 Aug 2012 01:32

Does anyone have a suggestion for a microphone that's under $60 (USD)? I was looking at the Blue Snowball iCE, which used to be $40 on Amazon, until the price skyrocketed to $70 right as I got my money together.

Additionally, should I get Shure SRH840s, Audio-Technica ATH-M50s, or something else? My price limit is $150, and the M50s look a bit cheaper than the 840s right now.

Thanks.

I don't think that will happen. I easily have the money, but I don't think I can spend so much at once.

It depends on what you want to record with it, then I can make recommendations :/

I don't really know, For something incredibly cheap, try the rockband microphone (damn I was going to actually use it but my dad sold it) I don't recommend it for all purpose recording, only for vocals

I'm thinking of buying that Blue Snowball microphone during the next clearance, Is it good?

 really should specify that in advance as 95% of people would think you meant for vocal recording/ie singing and recording for songs. A normal $30 headset should do you fine for something basic like skype. Check amazon or best buy for reviews and ratings.

Sorry about that :(

I guess I'll settle for a Snowball iCE when it goes down; it suits my purposes just fine. It's just too costly right now >:( A headset isn't what I quite want; something that will fit on my desk is better.

Oh, and any headphones suggestions?

What I know is, the best headphones I EVER used were the ATH-M50, they are around 200$ and are over ear headphones. Trust me, The Quality is AMAZING, You can actually feel all the breeze in your ears while playing bassy music!

Option 2, for something more cheap but with a decent quality acceptable for music production, is WeSC Bongos, I've got a pair around $30 and it's one of the best headphones so far, except It might hurt on your ears in a first couple days, other than that it's great, rather than sounding Super High Quality, they have a natural feel, making it perfect for music production or on the go.

Did no one see the subtitle of my post title or the second part of the OP...?

I'm having trouble deciding on headphones at the $150 range, in which the M50s actually do fall under; they're $110 at the cheapest on amazon. The grey/silver LE coiled ones were $121 or so. I did some research and some say that the SRH840s are better, though I can't get anywhere to audition them myself. :(

I have only heard good things about the Snowball from a lot of people who make like a Radio show or commentary Videos, I don't know how good it is for Music though ;/

And the Headphone question is good XD I have the same models in my eye at the moment.
the M50, the SRH840 and a few Sennheiser ones that have really Similar Stats (I should do some research what every stat actually means)
I make different kinds of music, often get told that It sounds like something for a Video Game because I make only instrumentals, never had a chance to make music for an actual game. I would love to.
