If I changed it it would probably be Sept 1 for release on Sept 4. Yes? No? I think Sept 1 is still long enough so people aren't rushed.
I'm still gonna say no because that deadline almost guarantees I won't be able to finish anything on time, and if I do, it'll probably come out rushed. But then, I really shouldn't weigh on any final decisions. This is only my take on the matter, make any calls you deem necessary.
I do wanna say though, that I think concerns about artists losing interest due to a deadline being "far" (a couple of months) away are poorly founded, given the turnout of completed projects with deadlines just as distant, or even more, the Bronies for Good charity albums being the first to come to mind. They usually leave about three months between announcement and hand-in deadline, and end up with solid products. Seeds of Kindness got pushed back so many times, and they still came out with a great album. For Sori 52: a SoGreatandPowerful Compilation Album, work on it began around late September, and was wrapped up after Christmas, and personally, I'm very satisfied with the turnout. I think a long-ish period of time to work on it allowed us to work out the kinks of the release comfortably as well. Really, any artist genuinely interested in participating will stick with the project.
Granted, the nature of both projects I mentioned is probably slightly different than that of this one, but I'd say the point still stands. Even more so if the only reason to move the deadline is artists losing interest, and not say, trying to coordinate its release with a date significant to TWLOHA, or with an event of some kind.
