http://equestrianhype.bandcamp.com/albu ... o-bass-icsAll right everyone since a decent amount of people thought this would be a good idea I'm gonna try to make it happen.
Here is the premise, we make a collection of tracks that are, but don't have to be, pony related and in a the style of old school dubstep. You know, that stuff before all the wubs and robots. lol But a key with style is to be subtle, maybe instead of making a track and throwing a pony sample into it you could try to use the song to depict something you liked from the show or a fanfiction/Tumblr blog.
The goal of this style is to create a mood. This is done using very heavy sub-bass and atmospheric soundscapes. This style tends to be kind of dark and spooky but it doesn't have to be, I've heard some lighter songs by Silkie that even have a lightweight jazz influence. Also look to producers such as Skream, Kryptic Minds(Both of which are mildly mainstream), Hatcha, Widdler, Benton, and pretty much anything found on
r/RealDubstep.
And just to clear this up, wubs are still encouraged!
Now this album with be a free release on bandcamp, much like other projects in this community, and if any money gets donated it can go to a charity of some kind, I'll let you guys decide which one.
Submission will be due February 20th, release will be soon after, that way we can try to avoid overlap with other projects going on so everyone can put some real tlc into all of their tracks. I will allow for up to 2 tracks for every artist.
ALSO I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET SOME AWESOME ARTWORK FOR THIS ALBUM! So ask anybody you know that makes amazing digital artwork and see if they would like to submit some artwork for us. :3
Send submissions to me in the form of .WAV and .MP3(yes both just incase I'd need them for some reason). My email is
[email protected]Upload the submissions to website such as Box.com, mediafire, or dropbox them to me. Preview will be allowed but don't post any full tracks until the album drops!
This project will allow a lot of people to stretch their wings a little bit and fly out of their comfort zone creatively and I think it'll be a refreshing change from the influx of heavy/hard bass music as of recently.
