I'm kinda swamped with my five college classes, and being a sophomore in high school, that's kinda rough. But I LOVE house music, so I'll consider entering. Is there a generic due date?

I'm definitely interested in something like this if it does go down, but for the purposes of making the album a bit more interesting, could I make the suggestion that submissions be in club mix format (or at least with some kind of viable mix-in/out points) and that the album be released as a continuous mix (but indexed into its substituent tracks, kind of like deadmau5's 2008-9 albums)?

But yeah, I'd love to make a couple tracks for this if we can get it going! ^_^

Hmm... February 1st? Is that too late?

Febuary is good date, it will give everyone a lot of time to plan it out so they don;t have to drop what they are doing today as if it were releasing in a month (I hate it when albums do this).

In the words of scootaloo "I'm liking this idea!". I would offer up my skills to make the continuous mix being one of the few experienced DJs here.

If we don't go the mix route I would still support the album whether through making music or being a judge, whatever needs to be done I free to help.

Would electro-step or dubstep at 127-132 bpm be ok?

Make it at whatever BPM you want, house music is typically 120-134. I will work with whatever you give me though.

ChromaticChaosPony wrote:Would electro-step or dubstep at 127-132 bpm be ok?

Well dubstep at 130 is still dubstep and this is a house album which means your tracks will be judged for your house elements, not dubstep. Don't worry about BPM, worry about genre.

I'll give this a go, sounds good. Any upper/lower limit on track length? Not that I expect mine to be too short/long, but I'll ask regardless ^^

So basically you're making a gapless album? Sorta like 4x4=12?

Also, what if we have sidechaining in the song, do we keep it in the drumless version? And Feb. 2nd is great, I'll have plenty of time, thanks :)

Who needs visualizers when you've got fruity dance?

I'd be up participating and I'll happily help out judging as well (got some free time ahead ^^).

I feel like the problem with long deadlines is that people participating doesn't start working until they're 1 month away from the deadline and some might even forget about it considering the thread will probably not have much activity until deadline is close.
I'd say establish your judges etc and then make a deadline 2 months a head of that or something.

Okay. Sounds good. So 120-130 is a good base BPM range to stay in?

Progressive dutch electro french house yeah boi

oh and some progressive house tracks can get really long, so the max of 6-7 min marker put in might not be so distant after all ^^

Nine Volt wrote:I'd probably stay at 128 for the sake of the mix but yeah, as long as it is clearly part house it's fine.

I'm not a DJ though, you may want to talk to 4th because he'll probably end up doing the actual mix.

I was thinking of using a regular 4/4 kick drum pattern and sidechaining some of the bass and pads/other synths. And 128 bpm. And a bunch of house plucks. Other than that, I intend to go full out Excision or Downlink on steroids with rediculous amounts or industrial samples, synthesized robotic noise, sub bass, and mid range basslines .

Also, do you mind if I rap on my track, or would you perfer something instrumental?

Edit: Would you get annoyed if I titled my song "Too Manestream?" I wanted to make a hipster song for no apparent reason.
