Nowadays, most of society has fallen into a trend. A road with such deep prints at the places where we have stepped so many times before, we struggle or fear stepping out of these prints. We follow these tracks as we are used to them, comfortable with them, know how they work. We can take this route with your eyes closed.

However, there are a few that dare step out of these prints onto fresh dirt and grass. To explore farther from the path and to individualize themselves from the guided walkers on the engraved trail. These few stick out to us as people that are innovative, daring, bold, maybe even courageous.

Yet all they're doing is stepping out of their comfort zone.

This is why we're making this group, Derpy's Wings (I'll explain the title in a bit.) We're striving to make an album in which we break away from the norm, to show that we can step away from the typical footsteps laid out in front of us.

We would like you to make a track that isn't your normal piece of music. If you're a dubstep producer, make some trance. If you're punk rock, go with some soft rock or something similar. Heck, the change can even be more dramatic, such as hardstyle to country. You're not required to make something out of your comfort zone, although we encourage it.

Also, the group would encourage small time or very unknown musical artists to step up and take a swing. Just like Derpy, background artists deserve just as much attention as the bigger artists. There is a lot of talent in this community, and it shouldn't be scoped down.

So, what are the rules?

1: To participate, either post your teaser track up on this thread or message me with the link to your full track, and be sure to disable your download. Please put your utmost effort into your track.

2: We very strongly encourage you to make the track different from your usual. This project is meant to not only improve our musical skills but our views on other types of music.

3: It should be pony-related in some way, although this isn't necessarily required. We'll take your word on it if you say it is pony-related, don't worry. We're not Equestria Daily. (OH HO HO!)

4: Smaller artists will usually have some advantage over bigger artists when we come down to deciding what songs we'll put on the album, but just because you're smaller doesn't mean you'll get on the album. Again, put your full effort into the song.

5: Collaborations are -also- encouraged. Working together is a great way to expand your skills.

6. Submissions will end on December 24th. The album will be released on January 1st. Make sure you get your songs in.

By the way, once the album is completed, we'll be posting it on Bandcamp for free, although donations are appreciated. We are deciding on a charity for donations to go to currently.

The reason we named this Derpy's Wings is for a number of reasons. Derpy seems to be the face of the background characters of the show, the one that people know above all others. This is the reason why we encourage smaller artists. She also seems to be popular for her tendency to be different, to break from the norm. Why can't we do that with ourselves? Break from our own norm? And finally, her wings. Without her wings, she's still Derpy. She's still the one that breaks off from the crowd. However, the wings really makes her soar, to challenge herself and push harder, higher up in the air like no one else.

Okay, time to stop being cheesy and trying to be symbolic~

You don't have to do something that's out of your comfort zone, it's merely recommended. I bet you still have at least one genre you haven't dipped into yet.
