Round V - Genre Swap

“Let me fix your music”

Welcome to the fifth round of the successful Brony vs Brony Remix War!

The purpose of this event is just the same as the last four - this time around it’s very simple: find a song made by another musician in the community that you like and remix/rewrite it in your own preferred style and genre. This remix war will be different in that only ONE remix will be accepted per person due to the large amount of submissions we expect. You can participate in one remix and one collab total.

This event is a great opportunity to fix other people’s music! So you make dubstep? Let me fix that for you by making that Eurobeat.

Metal? Fixed. Orchestral now, punk. Classy!
Let’s get some smooth jazz all up in that techno.

Just like the last round, we’ll be using our automated submission form for registering and submission. PHPony, the owner of the site Celestia Radio, has created a wonderful web form on our forum mylittleremix.com to make this possible. The submission for this round can be found here: http://mylittleremix.com/submission/list.php?event=28
Round V: Timetable, Deadline, and Details

--Timetable--

Registration and Composition: Current Date -- September 1st 11am PST

Results will be submitted to Equestria Daily shortly after.

Why so early in the day? We have a tradition of holding a sync party after the deadline, and many of our participants all over the world, they want to be able to join in without having to wake at 4am Sunday morning. Details of when exactly the sync party is will be up on our forums and Equestria Daily along with the final post.

Besides, four weeks is a long time; school is starting and we don’t want everyone to go insane. This also gives you time to make additional entries, and to polish your work. You really won’t have an excuse for being late.

--How to Register--
  1. To register, you need to create an account on our forum mylittleremix.com
  2. Once you have an account, go here:http://mylittleremix.com/submission/list.php?event=28
  3. Click on the event that you want to participate in and select Participate at the bottom of the list. Your name will be added to the list. You will then have the option to withdraw, or submit an entry.

--How to Submit--

Format: Remixer fixes Remixed - Title of Track

e.g: Rarity fixes Applejack - I Learned Nothing Today
  1. Upload your song to YouTube.
  2. Set the video as [Unlisted] as opposed to [Public] (You’re free to reveal it after the 1st)
  3. In the description, post a link to the MP3 download, and a link to the original composer.
Format: Remixer fixes Remixed - Title of Track
PLEASE USE BOX.COM OR MINUS.COM as your MP3 download site

If your music is intentionally or unintentionally damaging or dangerous to your viewer's hearing, you will be disqualified.
You need to fill out every field, including a direct download link. Only mp3 format will be accepted. Any other formats (such as .wav) will not be included in the download pack on Equestria Daily.

  4. Submit your entry by clicking on the event and clicking on Submit Entry:

BRONY REMIX FAQ:

Q: Can I remix Daniel Ingram? Can I remix the show?

A: No. You can only remix another brony remixing the show.

Q: So it’s a remix of a remix of a remix?

A: Yes. The whole event is a bad Inception pun

Q: Who can I remix?

A: Anyone in the community! Participants or not. Just not the show directly.

Q: Can I remix a brony’s originals or just their remixes?

A: You can remix anything you like, as long as it was made by another brony, and it doesn’t need to be pony related.

Q: I need help, can I ask the person I’m remixing for audio stems or MIDI?

A: Yes you may, but it will still be up to the original author to share these or not. Usually they do.

Q: Can I remix myself?

A: What? No! Why would you ask that? Friendship! Make some friends!

Q: I liked collaborating in the last Remix War. Can I do it again?

A: Of course! But you can only participate in 1 collab, maximum!

Q: I write metal, 8-bit or something that isn’t dubstep. Can I still participate?

A: Absolutely! We WANT people to take songs they like and put it in their own style.

GENERAL FAQ: PLEASE READ

Q: Why do I have to register to your forum in order to participate? Can’t I be anonymous?

A: This new process allows you to do everything yourself, including making corrections to your entries. We can even now export all of this information in bulk as HTML code, playlists, etc, so the event will run smoother. Essentially, the entire event is now automated. Also, the forum will make communication and coordination with other brony musicians easy, considering the premise of this event.

Q: What are your standards on track content?

A: We will be filtering for inappropriate content, such as swearing, sexual references, drug references, or entries that have little artistic merit. Please remember that this is about the music, not the lulz. If you are unsure about what is appropriate, please post your question in the event thread.

If your music is intentionally or unintentionally damaging or dangerous to your viewer's hearing, you will be disqualified.

Stars In Autumn UPDATE: All entries submitted can be downloaded with this torrent file. Please let Stars In Autumn know if there are any issues.

Speaking of which, hey Makkon, you know The Little Toy Shop?

It was wonderful.

I'm making it the craziest Danny Elfman dub-cludge you'll ever hear.

It's gonna be something that both bros and classical lovers can agree on, like a whimsical Nero.

Just super saiyan.

Gonna see about participating in this. Dunno what I'll remix, but if someone wants to remix any of my stuff, i'd be glad to do one of theirs. I'll probably take something really hard and dubstyle and make it a calm orchestral. LOL.

Are covers of other brony songs allowed or must there be an element of the original work in the entry?

Covers usually include original work. Guitar covers of dubstep are just as much a "remix" as house remixes of orchestral.

Basically, just make the genre different than the source material. If the source material is a rock song, don't make your cover a rock song.
