Sounds good to me. Dropbox it is.

Thoughts, anyone? It needs some mixing, I think, but I don't know what to do with it, exactly. :/

Compositionally, it's fine to me. I'm not to good at mixing my rock stuff, and even then I've only had experience with mixing blow-your-eyes-out guitar music, but here's a few people you could ask:

-Tarby

Well I think I'm done mine, I can't think of anything else to improve, at least not on my own. If anyone is interested in listening and giving me feedback, it would be much appreciated.

The composition sounds good to me. A few things I noticed:

At like 2:30 some cymbals come in and it was a bit loud, and my volume is only at 50%. The distorted tone was a little jarring. If the distortion was not part of the recording, I'd look into messing with the tone.

Then again, I'm no pro mixer. It feels like it's an uphill climb for every song I make in that regard. You could try consulting people like HMage for mixing advice.

One composition thing I didn't like was the ending. It's kind of abrupt. I think what you should do is leave like two measures or so after the project empty, just to let the reverb ring out.

Thanks for the feedback, it's very helpful. I didn't notice the cymbal problem until now, and I most certainly can tweak the guitar tone.

Welp, I think I'm done working on my track.

Roughly a week of writing, 4 days of mixing and mastering, and one loss of sanity later, I think I done good...Hopefully. All I know is I'm tired of working on this track, it sounds good to me (which is what REALLY matters), and I have other projects to work on.

Now onto the REAL question: according to the first post, I need a FLAC or some form of lossless file. Anyone know how I can get an FLAC file out of FL Studio, or at least how/where I can convert a high quality .wav file to FLAC? Or if that's even advised? I don't know alot about audio formats except mp3 is standard, .wav is better, and FLAC is best. That's about the extent of my audio format knowledge.

You can't get a FLAC out of FL Studio directly. I prefer simply exporting a 24bits wave file. For converting to FLAC I'll just use fre:ac, a free audio converter. For an MP3 I usually use the commandline LAME encoder using the -V2 --vbr-new -q0 --lowpass 19.7 -b96 commandline parameters (source).

Kind of right, but not quite. There are THREE jobs you have:
-Making sure you like it
-Making sure the charity likes it
-Making sure the listeners like it

Any one up for a collab? I have fl studios and have done everything from trance to house to actually singing and glitching vocals. Also can do more ambient or chill... can write lyrics and mix and what ever.

Inspirational! This is totally awesome and worth the time you put in!

The only problem I can see is that it sounds mixed quite loud for orchestral, and that makes it not quite believable. That shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Haha I've been letting the dubstep get to me with the idea that if there aren't 60 limiters on the master it's not worth listening to. Yeah, I can turn it down. Thanks c:

My piece has been underway. However, I'm needing a gong plugin for FL studio 10. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Here is a HQ soundfont containing a gong. E4 is the gong. I think it changes dynamics a bit if you mess with the velocity.

Have at it.

...well, crap. I don't know if I have any stuff that's not angry, creepy, or overly depressing, but my Blacksoul Seraphim project is intended to be all about the charity. I'll PM you some links to mp3s, Mr. OP.

I really like your style. It's simple and not overproduced, which I think will help it stand out of the crowd.

I'm a little more drawn towards Manehattan. I really like that atmospheric kick sound, and that groovy electric guitar near the end, I find it quite emotional. It seemed the song was progressing somewhere at that point, but the song ends, perhaps it's just your aesthetic to leave things on a captivating note to keep you thinking afterwards. Either way I like it. Good job :)

Both songs are quite similar in style, so I don't know if you should submit both, as I can only see one being accepted.
