I really love doing these charity albums. They're a way I can help people with my music. Unfortunately, it's the only way I know how, which is why I sincerely hope we are able to do more of these.

Well, uh, I have been working on a piano-only track for a bit of time, and I was just wondering if anybody could tell me what they think of it so far.

I'll be as straightforward as I can here - there really isn't much of a melody, or any structure to speak of at all. A lot of the arpeggios feel like they're lackadaisically jumping up and down a scale, and I'm not exactly sure which. There's a lot of dissonance, and it's really distracting. I'm sorry, but it needs quite a bit of work.

I see people are posting their tracks on here. Are we allowed to post an entire track on here to get feedback?

Yes. The community is allowed to hear it, just not the public. Don't post it on youtube. Use a site like dropbox.com where the only people who see it are the ones you give it to.

I'm a little more drawn towards Manehattan. I really like that atmospheric kick sound, and that groovy electric guitar near the end, I find it quite emotional. It seemed the song was progressing somewhere at that point, but the song ends, perhaps it's just your aesthetic to leave things on a captivating note to keep you thinking afterwards. Either way I like it. Good job :)

Both songs are quite similar in style, so I don't know if you should submit both, as I can only see one being accepted.

Cool, thanks so much! I'm probably leaning in the same direction, honestly. I may end up submitting both simply for the sake of letting them decide, but I'm not too worried either way :P Thanks again for your input!

Well here's what I've been doing, if anyone is interested:

Making something chilly chill. So much so, samples of ice and frozen puddles being hit are used!

Wow, Dr. D. this is really.....consonant for you! I'm enjoying it; almost sounds like the first Age of Empires soundtrack while retaining this "nightime in the jungle" quality. The occasional eerie sound is perfect; it makes you feel at ease, but alert.

On a different note, the instrumental part of my entry is almost finished being recorded, and I started it today! Gotta love playing an instrument other than the computer. *Looks at all the editing he has to do.* /ohokay.jpg

Yeah, I'm not allowed to write anything dissonant for this...so I figured I'd do something different with timbre and sound instead!

Sounds like some jungle tribe is having a watermelon-eating contest! I can't hear anything but that! It's like, at one point, who could spit the farthest.... man it was epic.

I really wish I could submit something for this. But I can't compose my way out of a paper bag right now, still learning and everything.
My goal is to be capable of making any kind of music that strikes my fancy, and do it well.

Well, they emailed me back after a while saying thanks, but I guess the surefire way to tell would be to wait until the album comes out :3

Mixing/Panning done! My part in this battle is (almost) over. I have a bit more composition left to do at the end, but I have to finish it when I can download my new libraries I bought tonight or tomorrow night. Then I'll have my super awesome collab buddies put vocals into it and master it.

This has no genre types that we have to stick to- according to the OP- so this will blow everybody's socks off hopefully! I did go a bit dark and intense (maybe too much) for the beginning, but my plan is to have the ending so beautiful it resolves the whole thing very nicely.

I'm posting this here so I somehow don't forget to finish it! AAAAAHHHH! That'd be a wreck.
