It's regarded as a terrible antivirus considering it slows down your computer and doesn't give you any control, it does it's job at protecting you from viruses but from my experience the program itself is even worse than a virus at times =\
I'm using avast which is free, has done the same job as mcafee but with much less complications and doesn't slow down anything, of course this is just my experience.

Remove it from your computer immediately and put something like Malwarebytes or Avast in its place.

I used to have Microsoft Security Essentials. Gave me full, easy and immediate control over what to do with threats. But the problem: it only bothered me with Trojan notices for my tools. It didn't pick out the virus when I did foolishly get one.

So I ran without antivirus for a year or so. Had one virus that I manually removed, and now I have Malwarebytes. The only minus is that it continuously bothers me about updating shit. The plus: it doesn't do anything without me wanting to (if you set your settings right), and it catches everything.

I use webroot as an antivirus, McAfee isn't as bad as norton, but if it's making you notice a decrease in performance, you're going to want to remove it. Webroot is pretty simple, you just download it and it does the rest. If you're downloading anything it's tell you or stop the download from happening in case it has a virus, also, although it does a routine scan, you usually don't even notice it so it doesn't randomly pop up. It's pretty much out of the way too, just a small icon on your taskbar, or a big one on your desktop if you want it there. Honestly I think it's a pretty good AV, uses barely any ram at all, too.

If you're smart and careful about how you use the internet, you don't really need an antivirus, but since I'm neither smart nor careful, I figure I should err on the safe side.

I've always got by using AVG free with no problem. Occasionally it will flag things that aren't actually malicious, but I'd rather it was over-protective than letting nasties slip through the net.

I agree with pyre. Unless it was making too many mistakes flagging normal and safe things. Like if it flagged every vst I downloaded or every word document. Etc

Ok. Here we go. I have a budget. $700USD. Find me a computer with the most bang for my buck. I want windows 8. I want a desktop. Needs to run fl studio great and play video games at at least almost-ps4/xbox1 level graphics. Whoever finds that computer an posts a link here and has the best computer in my opinion will win a cookie.

Build a computer. Really the only way to get something good out of 700 USD.

I have a laptop that has that, and costs €700. Close enough right?!
(Though I downgraded it to Win7 because I can't work with Win8.)

Well I was half way through changing it to the Batpone from my Skype avatar but I forgot to resize it and wasn't bothered to. When I tried to reupload my current avatar something went wrong(?) and it wouldn't let me. So since I couldn't be bothered with it I told myself it gave me less motivation to post during exam period and left it at that.

On note of exams, you know what sucks? Finding out the exam you haven't studied for at all is not 10 days away like you thought but is in fact tomorrow morning. Nature just had to throw the buggy/flu-ish "you're-sick-and-out-of-it-but-not-sick-and-out-of-it-enough-for-you-to-get-out-of-a-test" card at me too.

We're just advicing you to build your own computer since that'll give you A LOT more value out of your money, I am not sure if you can reach the graphics levels you wanted unless you build your computer (although I'm in Sweden so it's a bit more pricy here) it's a though call.
Building a computer isn't that hard and you can pretty much watch a video/read a how to and do it fail proof, you can also try and get a friend over if you have anyone who's ever built a computer. As long as you don't electrocute your computer you'll be fine ^^

I was being seriously, too. You should really learn to build your own PC, it'll save you a lot of money and probably a lot of time in the long run. It's a hugely useful skill.

Unless you want a laptop in which case this discussion is irrelevant.

If he's never built a computer in his life its prob a bad time to start. While it would be advantageous to have that level technical knowledge and know how that doesn't mean he does. Just find a pc that fits your need (that's nothing we can do for you).

Looks like pyre is in the lead for the cookie.

I basically do not want to build a PC because I currently do not know how. I just want something that's ready for use ASAP. Thanks pyre :3

Building a pc is really as simple as building legos you know. As long as you have all the parts, it won't take more than a day. Surely you got a weekend free every now and again? There's guides out there and shit.

But yeah, pyre's alternative doesn't look bad.

It's not like it's a very difficult thing to learn, even if you have relatively little technical knowledge. If you have a weekend mostly free, I guarantee you can start learning about the components of a computer on Saturday morning and have all your parts picked out and ordered by Sunday evening, no stress. It's not something you ever have to re-learn, and it's a useful skill pretty much for the rest of your life. It's one of those simple skills I genuinely think everyone of able body and mind should learn.

This is probably the last thing I'll say on the topic, BTW, I'm not going to keep bothering you about it.

I know building a computer is easy. Thank you for all the people that said that. And again, I have no time. I need to get a computer ASAP and not for myself. Budget is 700. It shouldn't be too hard to ask for one thing, a link to what you think I should order. Everyone says to build one, build one. Cool, yea. I didn't ask if build on one is better. :3 so please just give the customer what they ask for.
If you go to McDonald's and order some fries and a drink and a burger all from the cheapo menu, they are not going to tell you that "buying a meal is better because reasons", they do what you ask.
I would have hoped more people would just give me what I ask, even without explanation. :3
I'm not mad, it's just I seriously would be disappointed if another person says to build a computer instead of posting a link to one.
