Fallout Equestria Music (update: Wandering)

Postby Dr_Dissonance » 09 Aug 2011 09:45

So, I have plenty of University music projects to do, but very little pony music projects...so I'm giving myself a project!
My project is to write music inspired by Fallout Equestria: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/04/s ... stria.html
Fantastic story! I'm basically going to write music based on places or scenes within this story, over the course of...some time (haven't decided how long yet!)
The first one is this: a main theme thing! I basically took reference to Inon Zur (composer: Fallout 3) and added my own flair...I think it sounds good!
Feedback is greatly appreciated, especially regarding whether it actually sounds Fallout Equestria-like!

FIRST BATCH IS DONE! SEE YOUTUBE VID!

P.S I've put this in the 'completed' section, because it's where I want to put all the pieces I do as I do them! But I may add unfinished stuff here too!

Stop everything else you do and keep doing this.

Staccato samples needed some reverb, though. Seemed a bit out of place because of it.

This is awesome. I agree to Makkon, stop everything else you do and keep doing this.
I just played fallout 3 and now I feel like I haven't closed the game, keep up the good work.
Plus Fallout: Equestria is my favourite fan-fic so that earns you even more respct points from me :D

Huh, funny, I was told that recently by Interrobang...:P

And thanks, I didn't think about that!

Cheers! I wanted to write something that was mine, but at the same time, Fallout-like, so I'm glad it fits!

I have updated this, but I'll post it once my vsts have arrived and I've re-rendered it!

Update with track 2!

My ideas for this specific piece were...limiting...
I didn't want to do what Inon Zur did specifically for Vaults, I wanted to make my own! I tried to represent the dull and bleak feel given in the beautifully written first chapter of Fallout Equestria. In it, Littlepip is sad, due to realising she's stuck with the grey walls all her life. I wanted to get that feeling of sadness as well...
So that's dull, bleak and sad...not great descriptive words for music...:P
But I think I got that feel...I've also decided that the further underground Littlepip is, the more electronic the music gets...
Tell me whether it succeeds or not, because I'm always not sure!

Fun fact: Most of the melodic material here is derived from the piano in the main theme!

To do:
When my new vsts arrive, re-render main theme
Do next piece

What a big list! :P

Re: Fallout Equestria Music (update 3: Dead Stables)

Update with this!

My original plan was to do the music in the order of the story, but many folks from My Little Remix challenged me to write scarier stuff than my "The Night That Never Ended (Do Not Go To Sleep!)"...so I had a play with sounds and decided to skip ahead and do the music for Dead Stables!

Anyway, this music (or ambience) is to represent the stables (Vaults in actual Fallout) LittlePip tends to stumble across frequently in the story "Fallout: Equestria". The music is basically derived from the music for Stable 2, but messed with a lot! I love the screaming sounds!
Also, there are 2 samples from the actual My Little Pony, but they've been heavily altered, can you guess where/what they are?
Also, I may redo this with more voice later, but that'll be when my new vsts finally get here!

New track!

...yes, that is me playing guitar...you can tell because my articulation is craptacular!
Anyway, here's a theme for New Appleloosa, I imagined it being quite a bleak town, with a busker playing his ol' geeeetar in the centre whilst people went about their day...
So, the melody and harmony has a bleak tone to it! Easy as pie!
Anyway, apologies for my playing, might re-record it later when I've gotten more practice, this was virtually sight read...:P

Music that's meant to represent the strange feel Littlepip had once she had escaped her Stable...being in a weird, dark world calls for some weird harmonies!

I actually don't know whether this is any good or not, so feedback is much appreciated please!

The beginning of batch 2! EXCITING!

Here's a basic theme for the daytime in the Wasteland...y'know, when you're not being killed or attacked or maimed...
So never...

I think it's good, just went for something short with longing, grief and hope all wrapped up within!

Enjoy/feedback is, as usual, appreciated!
