High Quality Piano VST/Samples?

Postby X-Trav » 29 Aug 2011 06:42

Usually I use a lot of piano in music I make (I am a pianist after all) however it never sounds good! and now what im working on has A LOT more piano than usual. Right now i'm using Jazz Baby, which works well enough, but once you hit the arpeggiated chords it sounds awful.

Anyone got a good sample pack or vst for piano?

Free or something you fork out the dough for?

For free, I've heard that this one is quite good:

For commercial vsts, the Steinway Concert Grand Piano in Garritan's Personal Orchestra and NI New York Grand are both very nice!

Well if money or piracy isn't a problem, then I'd suggest EDIROL Orchestral. Not so much of pianos there, but overall a very awesome VST.

Looks like I may have to fork over some dough after all.

Do you use Garritan's Personal Orchestra for all your stuff Dr_Dissonance?

I used to, Rarity, Graceful Style! uses Garritan and the piano in Luna's Lament is the piano from Garritan!

But I've moved to Kontakt and East/West, so my latest stuff comes from them!

Pianoteq. Easily the best piano extant today.

I used jazz baby, but it sucks, when it comes to lower velocities. I stick to ableton's built-in simpler Keys-acoustic Piano, they have good velocity response
