REMIX WAR IVRound IV - Role Models
Welcome to the fourth and final round of the successful Brony vs Brony Remix War! By “final”, we mean final until next spring. Our last round had a colossal 56 fantastic entries altogether! Think we can top that?
The purpose of this event is just the same as the last three - It comes in two parts: 1) find a song made by another brony that you like and remix/rewrite it in your own style. 2) swap styles with another brony musician in writing an original song.
Just like the last round, we’ll be using our automated submission form for registering and submission. PHPony, the owner of the site Celestia Radio, has created a web form on our forum mylittleremix.com to make this possible. The submission for for this round can be found here.

As with previous Remix Wars, there is a completely optional challenge track. However, this is where the real magic is. The theme of this challenge is: create an original piece by emulating the style of another brony.
- Title of Track
as Rainbow Dash
- Being Awesome
Find another musical brony and pair up! Two musicians, each emulating one another’s musical style to create two different pieces. Go by the book or create a fusion, this time we’re hoping to get you out of your comfort zone. By emulating the style of another musician you can not only learn the ropes of creating other types of music outside your comfort range but improve your musical prowess overall!
If you don’t want to style swap with someone, you have the option of doing another remix.
Of course, this is all done for fun, and you’ll have a new musical genre under your belt!
Confused about how they do their music? Don’t be! Our artists have detailed their preferences - you can find the forum thread for that here:http://www.mylittleremix.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=302
We also have a thread for contact information, which you are free to use to contact and communicate with your brony-crony.viewtopic.php?f=21&t=78
A list of currently announced pairings can be found here:viewtopic.php?f=12&t=324Round IV: FAQsBRONY REMIX FAQ:
Q: Can I remix Daniel Ingram? Can I remix the show?
A: No. You can only remix another brony remixing the show.
Q: So it’s a remix of a remix of a remix?
A: Yes. The whole event is a bad Inception pun
Q: Who can I remix?
A: Anyone in the community! Participants or not. Just not the show directly.
Q: Can I remix a brony’s originals or just their remixes?
A: You can remix anything you like, as long as it was made by another brony, and their original song was pony related.
Q: I write metal, 8-bit or something isn’t techno. Can I still participate?
A: Absolutely! We WANT people do take songs they like and put it in their own style.
Q: I need help, can I ask the person I’m remixing for audio stems or MIDI?
A: Yes you may, but it will still be up to the original author to share these or not. Usually they do.
Q: Can I remix myself?
A: What? No! Why would you ask that? This is about making friends, man!
Q: I liked collaborating in the last Remix War. Can I do it again?
A: Of course! It’s up to you to decide who submits the final result though.CHALLENGE FAQ:
Q: How does a style swap work?
A: You produce a piece of music that is as close to the other musician’s style as possible. You need to challenge this person, so you end up emulating each other. If you want, you can use the same DAWs they use, but it shouldn’t matter a whole lot.
Q: What’s a DAW? Do I even have one?
A: It’s short for Digital Audio Workstation, and the odds are, you probably do have one AND you use it actively... more or less.
Q: Can I style-swap with more than one other brony?
A: If you’re up to the challenge, go ahead!
Q: What if my partner or myself does not have a distinctive style?
A: A smart choice would be to emulate the brony’s most popular style. If they dabble in just about everything, pick your favourite.
Q: Can I just do a track emulating someone’s style without them emulating me back?
A: If you absolutely positively cannot contact another brony, you can do a surprise emulation. Don’t use this as a way out, though - endeavour to find a partner!GENERAL FAQ:
Q: Can I go straight to the style swap challenge and skip the whole remix thing?
Q: Why do I have to register to your forum in order to participate? Can’t I be anonymous?
A: This new process allows you to do everything yourself, including making corrections to your entries. We can even now export all of this information in bulk as HTML code, playlists, etc, so the event will run smoother. Essentially, the entire event is now automated. Also, the forum will make communication and coordination with other brony musicians easy, considering the premise of this event. We’re sorry to say, but this round we will be filtering for inappropriate content, or entries that have little artistic merit. Please remember that this is about the music, not the lulz.
(Although if you are subtle about it, we probably won’t notice)Please, post any comments or questions you might have here!
